A Kids Motorbike For Christmas Or NOT ?

Here we have another article, this time in the Uxbridge Gazette warning parents to stay away from mini motorbikes this Christmas as presents for the kids, but as usual its aimed at the irresponsible parent and child.

A few more terms for these little beasts were used ‘pit bikes’, ‘peewees’ or ‘go peds’ and the article did redeem itself as it went on to state that “parents are buying them without being aware of the restrictions” and was not just a bike bashing exercise.

Yes, they are not road legal bikes, they are powered like a chain saw and should be treated with caution and not stupidity.

If you didn’t know it the BMF (British Motorcyclists Federation) is the UK’s largest motorcycling organisation and is a member of government advisory groups that campaigns on issues that directly affect the liberty, safety and security of motorcyclists.

With over 350 affiliated motorcycle clubs that benefit from a special public liability insurance package, and whose members enjoy many of the advantages offered to individual bmf members it could be a good place to start the search for those parernts a little more concerned about safety.

New Kids Motorbike Track In Scotland’s Tinto End

Just came across a nice article in Moto Mag about plans to build a £200,000 six-track motocross facility for kids and adults in an a lovely120-acre countryside setting near Rigside, proposed for Tinto End and is the brainchild of veteran Boghead motorcycle ace Robbie Allan.

It should set new standards for a challenging course situated in the hills so lets hope he gets planning approval as it sound like a great place to learn some skills and eat some dirt.

Kids Motorbike Injuries

Came across this old but interesting article on kids motorbike safety.

It seems that injuries occur mostly at age 11, during the months of May to June so take your bikes of the kids then and everything will be fine….seriously though….

Basically they blamed the fact that kids did not have the correct protection nor respect for the bikes they rode.

I still cant believe that kids, nor their parents allow riding without protection when their is some risk involved.

Come on! if parents can make mistakes on bikes still, then kids will surely do the same.
